Embedded with iron pigment, burnished by hand with copper, and stained with a dark blue marine wash, Grinding Pavement - Dark Street Edition captures the endurance and spontaneous beauty of any hard working city street.

The Design

Drop the first two ribs, loose the last one and the floating ribs, and you have a planter shaped to mimic that of a human rib cage, with its unique dimensions, but not so narrow it's not functional!

Like all of our products, each piece is hand made from start to finish and completely original. While great care is taken at each step, each product can have slight variations in shape, weight, colour, texture and finish. Each RIB CAGE VASE is imperfectly beautiful and one of a kind.

Our planters are cast in Winterstone, a specialized sculpting medium, reinforced with layers with fiberglass mesh, and are finished with a water-resistant sealer.

Use and Care

The planter can be used as is, or can accommodate smaller flexible plastic plant pots fitted inside.

Each planter is first and foremost a sculpture, and a working vessel second. Please handle and treat each RIB CAGE VASE with great care. To prevent accidental erosion or a change in patina, do not expose it to chemicals or soaps. The planter is intended for indoor use only and is not a vessel intended hold water like a traditional vase.

For no additional charge we can add a drainage hold to the bottom upon request. Please send us an email after check out to request a drainage hole for your order.

Self Pickup hours

We are currently only offering Self Pickup in Toronto, Ontario. After purchase, you will be prompted to choose a day and time. Self Pickup options will be weekdays from 6:30 PM - 9 PM. Order fulfillment time is 14 days from time of purchase. If we are able to accommodate even sooner, we will contact you will other options.
